Seymour and the bananafish are similar to each other because in the story, Seymour says that in the beginning, the fish looks normal, but when the fish go into a hole and eat too much, they are not able to get out. The similarity between this and Seymour is that Seymour was fine before he went to war, but when he came back he was never the same and was never able to get out of that "hole". Another way they are similar is when the bananafish dies since he can't get out of the hole, which is the same when at the end of story, Seymour kills himself because he can't get out of his "hole".
